What is the ultimate killer of most electronic machines?

Moisture.

A slow but painful deterioration of that which is not alive.

Okay, let me not get too philosophical here.

Ai might be super intelligent, but it’s circuit boards wouldn’t function in enormous humidity…yet. Data centres do need vast amounts of water but that is to counteract the heat given out as a by-product of the data moving around inside the servers. I guess. (This is not a scientific paper, my research and understanding is indeed limited.)

So, Moisture. Causes iron to rust and our hair to frizz.

Hydrogen and oxygen in their essence corrodes some of the the metals used in making the machines function. Not all of the machine’s components, but some of them. This now may raise a question about the balance of nature, man and machine and how much of Ai is actually natural?

Plastic can withstand copious amounts of corrosion. No wait let me retract that. Plastic’s superpower is its biggest bane… The fact that it is not corrosive at all. One of the most durable inventions of man in the 1920s-30s. Changed the world for the better, and we have since then, never looked back. A miracle of the industrial age. The possibilities of this material were unimaginable and the sky was its limit, but so was its decomposition and safe discardment.

Electricity, the other half of a machine, can still be generated in the clouds…No no, not the data cloud… Real clouds. The place where rain comes from. Like the white fluffy things in the sky… The place where thunder and lightning are generated. This is the kind of electricity and sound cannot be controlled.

Nature can’t be controlled. We humans may try to do so, and maybe that is why we build machines… to try and control nature… artificially. We may try to create gardens and farms where there were once wild forests. Try and seed clouds to provide rain in dessert landscapes. However, there is a larger order at play here.

When push comes to shove, nature has the upper hand. If I may point out to the last tsunami, volcano eruption and earthquake. We may take from the earth all the materials required to build machines and sustain them to a profitable capacity, but nature has an infallible track record of rebalancing itself.

Earth has never missed cycling through a season. It may have been altered… and in all honesty, we are too uninformed to fathom that as well. The earth doesn’t owe us a report.

Machines might be new to the game and cater to man’s capricious nature. However, in the larger scheme of things, things get put back in their place with the most taciturnity.

The number of trees that get destroyed in a storm are insurmountable. Nature versus nature. For every 2000 trees that were uprooted there are 20,000 more that are beginning their life somewhere. (Again, not a hard and fast fact. I presume it is so, I may be wrong but would like to think Im right about this.)

Coconut trees, bend to almost a 45–60-degree angle in order to withstand strong prevailing winds. It took years and years for them to evolve that way. Oak trees on the other hand grow grand deep roots and an extremely wide trunk and don’t even budge an inch in the wind. They stand their ground with the determination and fortitude of a 10 elephants.

Nature knows the chaos it is causing itself. Let us try and remember the dirt that gets kicked up during the storm just might reveal treasures underneath or the shattered bones of our past. The storms aren’t really going to stop, all we can do is try and harness the power of the lightning.
